This exquisite silver-plated riza surrounds an exquisitely hand-painted copy of the holy Icon of Christ on a Shawl, crafted in the XVII century. The metal covering protecting the icon is finished to a glossy sheen with .999 sterling silver.

Beautiful icon of Christ on a Shawl. The icon features metal hook for hanging.

Christ on a shawl also called Mandylion - a type of acheiropoietos appearing in iconography since the 6th century. The mandilion depicts the face of Christ inscribed in a cross nimbus, shown on a white shawl, attached by the two upper corners. Around Christ's head is the so-called cross nimbus, an iconographic attribute vested only in the Savior, recalling his death on the cross. Inscribed on the nimbus are the Greek letters meaning "I am Who I am." - the name of God, also belonging to the divine nature of Christ, and the abbreviation of the name IC XC (from Old Church Slavonic Iisus Christos). Completing the design are angels, holding the upper corners of the scarf.
