The icon depicts the Mother of God in a standing position, showing the whole figure. Mary is dressed in a long robe and holds the infant Jesus on her left hand. Both figures are surrounded by rays that create a golden glow, which symbolizes the glory of God. The icon's appearance alludes to a passage in the Apocalypse evoking the figure of the Woman clothed with the sun.
